Otzi - The Ice Man


We are in Bolzano, Italy, home of the ICE MAN! Otzi was found in 1991 in glacier. His body was mummified, over 5000 years old! Since the body was preserved, extensive DNA research was able to be done with his remains. It is believed that the way he died was murder. He was found with shoes, pants and coat made of goat and bear skin stitched together. The path he was traveling through the mountains was regularly used back then and today for a shortcut through the mountains for trading




 No UBER in Italy! After looking for a taxi, Mike had the great idea to stop at a bar and have them call a taxi for us. It worked. And he had a refreshing NEGRONI!

Wine tasting with Ciasa Vedia of La Perla!

Old fashioned bike at the entrance of our hotel, La Perla. The owner & his daughter share some background on his grandparents that built the hotel. We toured their home behind La Perla and took a tour of the home. This grandfather helped build the first ski lift in 1946. This is the variety of wine I like...Lagrein. It is heavy like a cabernet.  The wine maker's fingerprint.
