Day 1 of Dolomites

Shuttled to the town of Ortisei and walked to Baita Pauli for lunch

Some side sauces that Mike will try to replicate when we get home. One has horseradish, cranberry and cream. The other is caramelized onions and balsamic reduction.



This is where we walked. 7 miles today. Mostly downhill. Pretty easy.


Odles is the name of the mountain range.

Wine tasting with Ciasa Vedia of La Perla!

Old fashioned bike at the entrance of our hotel, La Perla. The owner & his daughter share some background on his grandparents that built the hotel. We toured their home behind La Perla and took a tour of the home. This grandfather helped build the first ski lift in 1946. This is the variety of wine I like...Lagrein. It is heavy like a cabernet.  The wine maker's fingerprint.
