An EYE BLIP in the Trip!

After a gondola ride up the mountain where we started our hike, Diane started to see floaters in one of her eyes. After the hike, before dinner, one of the guides took them to the hospital about an hour away. Because of some miscommunications, they missed the doctor by 15 minutes and had to drive back to the mountain town we are staying in. Everyone at the hospital spoke German or Italian. They made an appointment to return the next day @ 8AM.  

The GOOD news is that Diane only had a tear in her retina and it was not pulled away. The doctor did a laser treatment and she had to return the next day to see if it worked. She was examined the day after her treatment and got the OKAY to continue on her trip. Rest and no physical activity for the next few weeks is recommended. She will not be biking & hiking for the next few days. Next up...seeing another doctor in a few days.  Now, to schedule an appointment in Naples, FL. The next challenge!

Old fashioned bike at the entrance of our hotel, La Perla. The owner & his daughter share some background on his grandparents that built the hotel. We toured their home behind La Perla and took a tour of the home. This grandfather helped build the first ski lift in 1946. This is the variety of wine I like...Lagrein. It is heavy like a cabernet.  The wine maker's fingerprint.
